It's been so nice having you in my class. Each and every one of you have your own special talents and qualities- always be kind, open-minded and resilient. Thank you for teaching me everyday too! I wish you all the best! Enjoy your summer and come back to school in the fall ready to learn! Think positively...we've got this!

Hugs,

Miss M

APRIL 14, 2020- HOME BASE LEARNING ACTIVITIES FOR ELA 10

Your ELA 10 teachers encourage you to take part in the home-based learning activities provided below. Please remember that no work is being evaluated (marked). Having said that, it is a good idea to SAVE any work you do. You may decide to do your work using Office 365, Notes, on paper, etc. Whatever activities you do accomplish- Keep them!

The following activities are meant to give you an overview of Shakespeare's play, Romeo and Juliet. We have tried to make the activities easy for you to accomplish on your own. If you do have any questions, please contact your ELA 10 teacher. The email addresses are as follows:

Colin.Briggs@nbed.nb.ca

jason.macphail@nbed.nb.ca

sherry.theriault@nbed.nb.ca

mary.grierson@nbed.nb.ca

IMPORTANT:

  • Please do the activities in the order provided as one thing leads into another and you need certain info to be able to do the next tasks.

  • Take your time and manage your work so that you are not overwhelmed. These activities CANNOT be done in one sitting! Work at your pace and within your normal routine/schedule.

  • As always...keep reading and STAY SAFE! We miss you and hope you are all well :)

APRIL 13, 2020

Good morning! I hope you are all well and have been able to enjoy some sweet treats this past weekend. I miss all your faces and voices- I hope you are all doing well. I have read 8 books so far! Be sure to keep reading and taking every opportunity to write- emails, letters, journals, etc. Anything you can do to practice your reading and writing skills is AWESOME!!

The English Department is having a Skype meeting tomorrow (April 14) and we are discussing some ideas to get more specific work out to you. I have some activities prepared for Romeo and Juliet and if what I have is deemed appropriate, I will post those here and you can work away on them at your own pace. The activities do require access to the internet (YouTube, SparkNotes/NoFearShakespeare site). You can do the activities using paper and pencil, or on your computer/device. Whatever works for you. I will have more info soon.

Always take care and know I am thinking about you all the time:)

Miss M

APRIL 7, 2020

Good morning everyone! I am hoping that some of you have checked this site and I would ask that you tell your friends to do so as well (remind them it exists!!). I will be posting information for you and your parents/guardians in the days to come. For now, you likely have heard that your HOMEROOM teacher will be contacting you to see how things are going. At this point, the focus is on wellness. We want to make sure you are doing ok.  I will be helping call the students for homeroom 115, so you may hear from me since that is a grade 10 homeroom and I have a few of you in ELA 10. We have divided the alphabet in half, and I have the bottom ones. So, expect a call in the coming days from your homeroom teacher! Don't ignore it as it might turn up as 'blocked" or "unknown number". We have a couple of questions for you and your answers to these will help the district (and your teachers) immensely. We would like to talk to you, but we may ask for your guardian/parent instead since this is the first contact. We are to make contact weekly after this initial call.

I am posting here some online and offline start up activities suggested by the district in order for you to keep some learning happening in your life! Try out some of these activities, although I am sure you have been keeping up with your reading and possible writing on your own. Journals, posting critiques or reviews of books you have read, and writing letters/emails to family and friends are all way you can practice your writing skills. Remember that reading every day has always been an expectation!

I miss you all VERY much and hope you are well. If you want to contact me, the best way is through email. My email is mary.grierson@nbed.nb.ca and you know I will always get back to you asap! If you want me to call you, leave a number in the email where you can be reached.

Take care- stay home-keep busy!

Hugs,

Miss M

Hello everyone! I am missing you all very much. I hope you are all healthy and safe at home, enjoying some free time, but also learning in different ways. With the announcement of the Minister of Education today, I am sure you have questions about how we will proceed. I have learned of this plan at the same time you did; we didn't receive any direction beforehand. This means that while I would like to answer all your questions regarding how we will proceed with ELA 10, I don't have any answers at this time. Stay tuned!

I have linked Mr. Ingersoll's letter home to your parents/guardians and how to reset your password/account in case you haven't seen those. It is probably a good idea to get your email up and running if you are able to do so.

I won't be posting any lessons at the moment because our teams need to meet (virtually, I guess) and decide how we will proceed and what we will post for lessons/activities. Please know that I am doing my best and am as anxious as you are about how this will all work. Trust that I have your best interests at heart. We are all in this together:)
